In the K2 db or in the K2Log db. I know that it will live in the K2Log db once the process is complete, but as the process continues and accrues many versions of auditted data, where does that data live? in the same string blob?

As far as I know, all auditing info are kept in the K2ServerLog db. Everytime something happens in a process instance, the change is made to the process instance which is then saved (in K2Server db) and a 'Logging' record is stored for the Logging thread to pick up and move to the K2ServerLog db. This 'Logging' record contains the audit info.
I do not think any audit info is carried with the blob representing the data/xml values.
