How can I preserve Nintex workflow approval history when migrating local sharepoint nintex workflows to SharePoint Online in Office 365. It is important that the files that are migrated cannot be modified as they are required to be immutable due to regulartory requirements.

There are a few of issues here.
Firstly you cannot migrate Workflow History including Approval history from on-premise to O365.
Secondly if you did migrate your task list there is no way to re-link the tasks up with the items that the workflow originally ran on.
Lastly, if you did work out away to do all of the above SharePoint will delete all workflow history older than 60 days for workflows that have been completed and there is no way to turn this functionality off.
