Symptoms

When attempting to apply K2 Appit for SharePoint to a root site collection the following error occurs when attempting to run the registration wizard:

"Warning: This application has limited rights when installed from the SharePoint Store. Click here to learn more about the limitations and how to enable full functionality."
 

Diagnoses

This is a known limitation of Microsoft when attempting to add apps to a root site collection. To be able to apply K2 Appit for SharePoint to a root site collection Microsoft must be configured to allow for custom scripting.
 

Resolution

Following the link provided by the registration wizard users are redirected to the following KB article:

As described by the document the following steps must occur to allow Appit to be applied to the root site collection:

1. Access the SharePoint environment in question.
2. Go to the SharePoint Administration dashboard.
3. Under 'Admin' find SharePoint, click this link.
4. In SharePoint admin center locate the 'settings' link.
5. In SharePoint settings find a section called 'Custom Script'. The two options available here should be changed to:

"Allow users to run custom script on personal sites"
"Allow users to run custom script on self-service created sites"

6. After making these changes click OK.

After making these changes K2 Appit for SharePoint should have full permissions to run on the site collection. Please note that these changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect.
