task list permissions

Jump to solution

I think there must be something wrong with my installation? I have a flexi task that assigns tasks to people that may not necessarily be an owner or member of the site. The tasks in the Workflow Task List are NOT editable by the person they are assigned to. Is  that how it is supposed to work?

Am I supposed to let all people be able to complete any task?

Hi Joshua,

The Workflow Task list default permissions should be Contribute.

Hope this helps,

Christophe

Hi,

I have a similar question.  Flex Task and Permissions to the Workflow Task list

Can you perhaps look at my question and see if this is the same problem?  I don't understand why people with view or read rights can't look at the list and why I have to bump up from Contribute to a higher permission level so people who have tasks assigned to them can actually complete the task.

thanks!

Patti

You should give Contribute permissions to anyone who's gonna complete tasks on a given site.

Even if you give Contribute to multiple people, User B is not gonna be able to complete a task assigned to User A. It will simply end with an error stating something like "This task is not assigned to you" or something similar. I have tested this on our farm.
