Users migation in SharePoint - Nintex errors

Jump to solution

Dear community

In company(SharePoint 2010, Nintex 2010) recently we are migrating users from one domain to another. The migration within SharePoint is done via builtin move-spuser powershell command.

Users are properly migrated within SharePoint, but Nintex workflows still are pointing to Old account. For example we got approval workflow designed with Nintex which collects document approvals. Workflow was initiated before migration of the user. After migration

1) SharePoint task is properly assigned to newly migrated account

2) In detailed history of Nintex I still see the old domain users (not migrated)

3) User is trying to review document logged with new domain, but SharePoint/Nintex tells that "User is not authorized to respond to this task" on the regular error page

In ULS logs I see:

10/08/2015 16:29:21.65 w3wp.exe (0x11E4)                       0x3924  SharePoint Foundation                 Runtime                               tkau                Unexpected       Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: You are not authorized to respond to this task. at Nintex.Workflow.ApplicationPages.ApproveReject.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)     at System.Web.Util.CalliHelper.EventArgFunctionCaller(IntPtr fp, Object o, Object t, EventArgs e) at System.Web.Util.CalliEventHandlerDelegateProxy.Callback(Object sender, EventArgs e)     at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.UnsecuredLayoutsPageBase.OnLoad(EventArgs e)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.LayoutsPageBase.OnLoad(EventArgs e)     at Nintex.Workflow.ServerControls.NintexLayoutsBase.OnLoad(EventArgs e)     at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive()     at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStag...                fbbb52f1-e40d-41c9-8839-12b35a1b406a

10/08/2015 16:29:21.65*               w3wp.exe (0x11E4)                       0x3924  SharePoint Foundation                 Runtime                                       tkau       Unexpected       ...esAfterAsyncPoint)    fbbb52f1-e40d-41c9-8839-12b35a1b406a

Is there any method to migrate account references within Nintex also? Currently the only way to make progress is to terminate it and start one more time with migrated users’ accounts.  Thanks

'Migrate User' may help you, see NWAdmin Operations - Nintex Workflow 2010

Now that was I was looking for! I've successfully migrated users within Nintex, I am waiting for the users’ feedback whether they can respond to tasks.

Nintex support also suggested me to follow instructions described in link bellow.

Claims based authentication Nintex Workflow 2010 > 2013 migration

It's working as well.

Hello Szymon,

We are currently in the same process (Migration to new Domain) and I'm looking for the correct steps for the migration. We also have some Nintex Workflows, which are running for a really long time (1 year or longer).

What steps did you make for the migration?  Did you use the "NWAdmin.exe -o MigrateUser -oldUser originalUsername -newUser newUsername" command, after you moved the Users in SharePoint with the "Move SPUser -Identity domain\olduser -NewAlias domain\newuser -IgnoreSID" ?

I am a little bit confused, because the NWAdmin Operations Document shows the Information "Changes are only made to historic workflow data and user settings. Workflow definitions and running workflows are not changed."

What happens to the currently running Workflows?

Kind Regards

Marc
