Browser Back Button created a duplicate list item

Jump to solution

Hi Folks,

I hope someone here can tell me what is happening here. I have a form under development and one of our users was testing for us. He submitted the form from a button on the form and got a 404 error upon redirect. That is not the issue but rather when he clicked the browser's back button (same as F5) a duplicate record was created. The button that is used to submit the form has a button action set to "Save and Submit". I primarily want to understand what is happening here so I can avoid it in the future.

Thanks,

Patrick Kelligan

Hi,

When submitting a form the item is created and then the redirect is perfromed.
It sounds like hitting the back button went back to the submit stage and created another item. I have never heard of this or seen it happen.

Thanks for the reply @SimonMuntz,

That is what I was thinking as well. BTW, the 404 error was because the redirect URL was pointint to a view with a name that no longer existed. We did fix that so this will likely not be an issue in the future.
