Horizontal scroll on a repeating section

Jump to solution

Hi all, I am drawing a blank here and hoping to tap into the expertise on these forums .

Currently using Nintex Forms 2013, and I am looking for a horizontal scroll on a repeating section, so that I can keep the width of the control constant, but let users scroll to see more columns.

InfoPath has Something like this: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/infopath/2006/06/28/introducing-horizontal-repeating-tables/

Is there a way to add a scroll bar (horizontal) to a repeating section?

technically yes (CSS) practically not.

I've tested this once but it was horrible. designer is not ready for that at all - you can see scrollbars but you can not control/move them. I as well wanted just horizontal scrollbar but it didn't distinguished between overflow, overflow-x and overflow-y, it always drew both scrollbars. sometimes under unclear conditions  I got 2 scrollbars for the same direction one next/below the other.

I gave the idea up quite soon.

Marian,

Thank you. Had the same experience with the CSS for scroll. Also, there is an issue that you cannot control the width of the repeating section (horizontally) in a dynamic way, which is problematic.

Hey Prasanna,

Any luck with this ? My hair has grown grey already trying this...

by the way you mentioned controlling the width of the repeating section in a dynamic way...i need to control the height of the repeating section in a dynamic way. were you able to achieve that ?

please assist

forget about scroll bars on repeating section. it's not way to go.

what do you mean with 'to control height of the repeating section dynamically'?

heigth is automatically adjusted by number of rows, what do you need to change on that?

My aim is to get the repeating section to show up as Tabs.

So i hide a "category" label in each row for identification.

Then using jquery i inject tabs with "Category" as the headers

any row which matches the category is pulled up and put in the particular Tab.

once this is done i am left with beautiful tabs with rows and bunch of space at the bottom !

This extra space is what i am trying to control by resizing the repeatable section.

usually following call helps to rerender form if you show/hide controls dynamically from JS

 NWF.FormFiller.Functions.ProcessOnChange(control);

however, from your rough description I'm not sure what might be proper 'control' for you to apply it to.

as well, I'm not sure whether it will reliably work for RS since it is known for rendering issues if contained controls show/hide dynamically (even with rules).

but let's try to play with it and let us know whether it worked or no.
