I am working in a SharePoint 2013 online environment. I am trying to create a document approval workflow in a document library.
We do not have Nintex forms just Nintex workflow. My question is: Do I need to purchase Nintex forms as well to properly utilize actions like "Assign a Task"? Or can I configure it some other way (just from the task list or utilizing some other method)?

If you do not have Nintex forms, the OOB SharePoint form will be displayed for a Nintex task.
The Nintex task will work fine even without the Nintex form installed.
The drawback is that you will not be able to update any UI on the OOB form.
