Note: This process applies only to users who have added the Nintex Automation Cloud app in their SharePoint Online environment. If users have the Nintex Forms App for O365, they will need to add the Nintex Automation Cloud app and have it licensed to proceed.

  1. Identify the list form in SharePoint On-Prem that needs to be migrated.

  1. Open the form designer and select Export.

  1. The exported form should now be downloaded to your local machine with the file name “Form.xml”.

  1. Next, go to SharePoint Online list and click on the Nintex Automation Cloud app. If you do not see the app, please have your SharePoint Online administrator add it through the SharePoint Online store.

  1. Select the “Customize SharePoint list form” option to open the SharePoint forms designer.

  1. The forms designer will default a form based on the fields configured in the SharePoint list. You can import the exported form to overwrite the default form. Click on the Import button and select the downloaded file to start the import.

  1. A prompt should appear which alerts you that the imported form will also be upgraded during the import. This will upgrade the form to the new responsive format and with the upgrade, some form controls, e.g. Javascript will no longer be supported. Click on the Upgrade button to proceed.

  1. Once the upgrade is completed, you should see the following prompt indicating that the form is now in new responsive format. Click “Continue to Form designer” to commence remediating the form.

  1. The upgraded form should contain all the fields that were previously seen in the On-Prem list form, missing the custom controls like JavaScript, form rules and variables. You can see in the right pane the form upgrade details of what were successfully migrated and the items that require further refinement or were not converted.

  1. All that’s left now is to complete the remediation/reconfiguration of the list form and have it published and tested to complete the migration.

For any issues faced with list forms migration, please open a support ticket with Nintex Support through Nintex Customer Central (NCC) or send an email to support@nintex.com with details on the issues faced during migration.
