Getting "list view threshold error" in Office 365 while querying Task list

Jump to solution

We wanted to read data from task list which has more than 5000 records while querying we are getting "list view threshold error" in Office 365

"Assign a Task" activity returns the GUID of the task and we are using this GUID to fetch details of particular task in "Workflow Variable". This is working fine till # of records
are less than 5000 but once task list reaches threshold it is giving below error

"An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the workflow instance. Exception details: System.ApplicationException: HTTP 500{"error":{"code":"-2147024860,
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPQueryThrottledException","message":{"lang":"en-US","value":"The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold
enforced by the administrator."

Is there any way we can remediate this issue?

The proper way should be to move some items, for example in another list : 5000 records limit is a SharePoint prerequisite....not sure you can set this limit up in 365.

Maybe you should modify your request to retrieve less items ?

That is true. The list view threshold for SharePoint Online is currently 5.000 items and you cannot change it. As the action you are using queries all items, so it will possibly always return all elements, you have to keep the number of the items to be lower than 5k. This is a multi-tenant environment  You're not alone there
