Topic

When installing Dynamic Advanced Commands (DAC) the installation fails because an anti virus software called Trend Micro interprets the file as malicious as it “encrypts some files.”

Instructions

If anti virus software cannot be disabled for any reason, even temporarily, the DAC installation fails because it cannot find an MSI.
Instructions
There is no encryption during DAC installation, it mainly extracts archives.
According to Trend Micro’s website, “Unauthorized File Encryption is a Behavior Monitoring feature that blocks unwanted file encryption or modification which can indicate a potential ransomware behavior.” so the extraction might be identified as modification.

It is also explained on the Trend Micro website that the Behavior Monitoring feature may falsely detect applications. and one of the following detection names may appear on the Behavior Monitoring logs:

  • Unauthorized File Encryption
  • Malware Behavior Blocking Detection
  • Compromised Executable File Detection
  • Newly Encountered Program Detection
When this occurs, it's suggested by Trend Micro to exclude the file from getting blocked - all steps can be found on the Trend Micro website at this

Once these steps are followed, and whitelisting is complete, the DAC installer file will install without issue.
