Known Issue: Installation failures on non-AD environments when upgrading or reconfiguring Nintex Automation K2 (5.8.1) or Nintex Automation K2 (5.9)
KB003715
PRODUCTIssue
If you run K2 in a non-Active Directory environment, you may encounter an issue when upgrading or reconfiguring Nintex Automation K2 (5.8.1) or Nintex Automation K2 (5.9). The K2 JavaScript Service Provider (JSSP) service and its local user can end up with mismatching passwords, which can prevent the service from starting or stop the installer from completing successfully.
Resolution
A new installer for Nintex Automation K2 (5.9) is available as at 2026/01/29
Clean installation using an installer previous to 2026/01/29
Clean installations of Nintex Automation K2 (5.9) using the installer previous to 2026/01/29 are not affected, but you may experience issues when trying to reconfigure the installation. See below for manual resolution for environments using the previous installer.
Note
Clean installations of Nintex Automation K2 (5.8.1) are not affected, but you may experience issues when trying to reconfigure the installation. We recommend upgrading to Nintex Automation K2 (5.9) using the latest installer.
Upgrading to Nintex Automation K2 (5.9)
