Team,

I am trying to create an "Oracle Service Instance" through "SmartObject Service Tester". As soon as I right click on Oracle Service and click on "Register ServiceInstance" the attached error appears.

ODAC has been installed (ODAC 64bits as the server is Windows Server 2012 Standard 64bits) but error message still appearing.

TNS_ADMIN variable is configured.

Through ODBC I can get access to Oracle databases.

What else should I check in order to troubleshoot this error?

Thanks,

Will

Also, I am using Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition, instead of Express Edition as mentioned on the following link: http://community.k2.com/t5/K2-blackpearl/Creating-and-Configuring-an-Oracle-Service-Instance/ta-p/72362

Is it really necessary to have Express Edition?

A couple Ideas...

1) Do you have the Oracle Client installed ?

2) Can you connect using the Oracle SQL Developer directly instead of ODBC ?

3) Nah... Oracle Express Edition is not required is the same as the Professional is just your Client setup.

That should get you some troubleshooting pointers...

Oracle Client: Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition

I can connect through SQL Plus, already installed on the server.

I have all the pre requisites mentioned here: http://community.k2.com/t5/K2-blackpearl/Creating-and-Configuring-an-Oracle-Service-Instance/ta-p/72362

but still can't create the Oracle Service Instance.

What I dont have are the services shown at that link because the Oracle data base is on another server, so no need to have those services here too.

1.  I assume the 'SourceCode.SmartObjects.Services.Oracle.dll' assembly, also exists in the 'C:Program Files(x86)K2 blackpearlServiceBroker' directory.

2.  Please right click on this file, and check its 'Properties" if there happens to be an 'Unblock' option, please do so and retest.

3.  I assume the odac was intalled with:

"install.bat all c:oracle odac"

4.  Was the server also restarted after installing the ODAC?

Restarting the server did the trick.
