Validation rule not working

I need to make a validation rule for a form with the following requirement:

  • When field1 is not equal to Choice1 Field 2 is required.

Here the validation rule placed on Field 2 that isn't working. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

isNullOrEmpty({Self}) && Field1 !='Choice1'

Re: Validation rule not working

Hi Colleen

Can you check you are using the named control of Field1 and not the item property?

Your exact formula worked for me when i used the Named Control.

Let me know if you get any more problems

Regards

Paul

I am using the named control, not the item property. I can't figure out why this isn't working. Thanks for trying Paul.

Re: Validation rule not working

I figured this one out - because Field 1 was a choice field, I could not use the is Null or Empty run time function. A choice field is never empty. When a choice field is blank it is equal to **Select Value**. Here is the validation rule that worked:

{Self}=="**SelectValue**"&& Field1 !="Choice1"

Or using my fields:
