There is an Idea in the “Planned” or consideration bucket but it only has 3 votes.

This is a huge opportunity to streamline administrative activities on tenants using Microsoft Entra ID Sync functionality.

Current day it will only bring users over with their name and email but it does not sync roles. Some organizations have a lot of department name and role name changes and it is exhausting to track all of these changes and go in and have to manually adjust a user who automatically came over in a “Sync”

The more votes we can get on this the sooner it will be added to the roadmap and potentially moved up in line for discovery and development consideration.

This will be a huge time saver for administrators and is normal functionality with other Entra ID integrations.

Help out the community by going in and voting this one up to the top please!

it will just take a few moments.

Thank you and make it a great day!

Hi @Happy2BeHere

The Entra ID app currently does not have the option to sync groups or roles. The reason is that Microsoft app for SCIM integration doesn’t have a good mapping to Roles. I would need to look at the details, but we couldn’t get that to work in the way we wanted.

The underlying SCIM API does have roles support. What this means is that you can update a user via that API to then set the roles.

We have some long term plans on our roadmap to enhance the SCIM integration with groups, but these are not in the near future.

Please let me know if you’d like more information/help on the usage of Roles within the SCIM API.

Thank you for sharing that, I can see if our developers want to take a look and see if we can come up with our own solution.
