Hi,

Anyone know what rights and how to set them for allowing end users to package and deploy their own solutions from a dev server to a live server?

Got client tools installed, so package and deployment can be run.

The create package option was greyed out, so i set Export rights for the user and also added them to the Package and deployment Role in management.

Now getting another message - insuffieicent rights detected, unbale to continue. You must have view rights to all objects in the system to perform packaging and deployment activities.

Where do i set the above, but without giving the user too much admin rights? Is their a bare minimum i can give to allow the user to do P&D without them messing anything up?

Thanks

Hello,

I would look to see if the end user was explicitly denied rights via category security.

Regards,

Matt

Hi,

The user is in a Group which has full rights to all Categories and all edit rights (except Security)

Actually Matt, that worked, so thanks.

So sub categories and SMOs mentioned in the error list were somehow showing as DENY rights, so just broke inheritance and set them to none, one-by-one.

As soon as they were done, i was able to package up.

Thanks for your help
