Scenario
How to upgrade a Nintex for Office 365 workflow to Nintex Workflow Cloud that uses the action, Office 365 Create Site Collection.
After Upgrade
- Your start event Connection property will need to be updated with an existing connection to SharePoint in your Nintex Workflow Cloud environment.
- The Office 365 Create site collection action becomes the SharePoint Online - Create a site collection action.
- You will need to completely reconfigure the action, however, it functions the same as it does in Nintex for Office 365.
- You will need to make sure you have an existing SharePoint connection setup that uses the SharePoint Online: Site administration authentication method.
Differences
- The output result variable will be stored in as an object variable that contains a URL link to the newly created site collection.
- The property, Storage quota, will is now measured in gigabytes (GB) instead of megabytes (MB).
Configuration
- Ensure that you have a SharePoint connection created using the SharePoint Online: Site administration authentication method so that the workflow has access to create site collections in your SharePoint environment.
- Reset the Connection property in your start event to point to an existing SharePoint site connection. By doing this first, other SharePoint related actions may automatically use this connection later in the workflow when you reconfigure them.
- Next, select the SharePoint Online - Create a site collection action and ensure that the Connection property is set to the connection that has the ability to create site collections in your environment.
- You will need to configure properties in the New site collection section with settings similar to your Nintex for Office 365 settings. You can use fields from the start event variable that link to your SharePoint list item that starts the workflow. Set the URL path prefix along with the URL path site collection name properties based on your requirements. The following example creates a new project site collection when a list item is created detailing the project.
- For the Options and Output sections, you can configure the Language, Template, Time zone, Administrator email address, Storage quota in gigabytes, Server resource quota, and results variable properties in the same fashion as your Nintex for Office 365 configuration. NOTE: Storage quota is in gigabytes (GB) now.
- You can use the SharePoint Online output object variable to get to the New site collection URL text variable. In this example, we are sending a new project site URL to a project owner in a Send an Email action.
