Task disappeared from workflow status after completion

I created a workflow with one "Start a task process" action, it assigns to 2 people with separate tasks and a completion criteria of "wait for first response". While the workflow is running, I can see the 2 tasks listed in Workflow Status, then only 1 task is left after workflow completed. The disappeared task is the one who has Not Started status. 

 

Is this by design? Where did the task go?

Yes this is by design in Office 365. This was different in SharePoint on premises environments but in Office 365 all other tasks will be removed after a task action has been completed. Only the approved/declined tasks that led to the completion of the task action will remain in the workflow history.
