I have a Skuid page showing as a Lightning Global Action (+ button on navigation). It renders a skuid page for new contact and I used to have a button that saves model changes and closes the pop-up. In lightning, it won’t close the pop-up. Is there a way to get the button to close the lightning pop-up window?

As of the Millau release (perhaps earlier than that, and definitely in more recent versions of Skuid) you can publish standard Lightning events from Skuid using the Publish Event action. I know there’s a Close Quick Action event that we can take advantage of, but I’m not sure if that would work for Global Actions or if Salesforce provides a similar event for Global Actions.
