Workflow has stalled on the 'Update project properties' action

Issue

The Nintex Workflow has stalled and the workflow status is showing as "In-progress". When checking the graphical workflow history, the workflow is currently running the 'Update project properties' action.

 

Resolution

Remote into each server in the SharePoint farm and open Windows Services. Find the "SharePoint timer" service and restart the service. Make sure to perform this action for every server in the SharePoint farm.
