Topic
When running Botflows, if a specific targeted action is not consistent, for example it will work a number of times and then stop working or freeze the Bot, there are a few things to check.

This article is for Bot versions that are v16.x and newer. For "Foxtrot" versions, please send an email to support@nintex.com and mention Foxtrot along with the issue. Screenshots are also helpful.

If Fiserv is being run in Internet Explorer using compatibility mode, then these steps may not help, it would be best to check with Fiserv and your IT Admin to see if the Fiserv application can be set up to run in the Chrome. Or in the Edge browser without Compatibility or IE mode turned on.

**If you are not using the newest version of the Bot, we suggest that the first thing you do is upgrade the Bot. Navigate to the Release Notes page below and our newest versions of RPA Bot and RPA Central are at the top of the page.

Instructions
**If Bot is running against Fiserv, note that RPA LE has special code specifically added to interact with Fiserv applications.

First open the action to see what options were selected and what the Rules page shows:

  • If the action is a Send Action, it is a best practice to change the Mode to none if there will never be text in the box you are targeting and change the speed to Very Slow as sometimes the Bot moves too fast for the application and will end up in skipped characters.
  • Once you get the action to work consistently, if you would like to speed up the action, please move the speed up by one to Slow and test for a few days to make sure the speed doesn't break the action. Then you can move the speed up again.

Next look at the Rules page by clicking 'Rules' on the top left of the action. If you see the Smart Targeting box as shown below but it is not checked, then you are not using our newest and most accurate targeting. The action was probably created in an old version before Smart Targeting was implemented.

You can try clicking the Smart Targeting box but if the selectors’ boxes are not populated, then the Bot will not have any information to find the target. It is better to recreate the action so that the Bot can store the selectors’ information it will use to target that element. (See below for steps on how to see what version the action was created in)

To check the version of Bot that the action was created in:
Click Help on the top right of the Bot.

  • Select About.
  • Click on the version number in the About box a few times fast and this will open the diagnostic toolbar.
  • Once it shows up at the top of the Bot, close the About window.
  • Right-click on the action that is not working correctly and choose Details at the bottom of the menu.
  • At the top of the Details page it will show what version the action was created in and what version it was modified in,

  • If the version the action was created in is older than the version it is being run in, disable the action and recreate it in the newer version. The way the Bot targets an element has changed over the years and is at its most stable in the newest versions. Then test the action to see if the issue is resolved.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, please send an email to Support@nintex.com, write 'Foxtrot RPA' in the subject line along with the subject and let us know what troubleshooting you tried as well as the version you are using and if you just upgraded. We will be happy to assist right away.
