Question
Answer
Workflow Reports WebParts
There are almost a dozen out of the box reports to choose from using the Nintex Workflow Reports webparts, available with the Enterprise versions of Nintex Workflow (2016/2013/2010). These webparts tell you the status of any workflows you’ve started, as well as any workflow tasks you need to respond to. The webparts can be placed anywhere in SharePoint and can be focused across the whole business or just a limited area.
Accessing and Enabling the Nintex Reports
Enabling the Nintex Reports can only be done by a SharePoint administrator.
- Open Central Administration and click on Manage Reports in the Nintex Workflow Management section. A list of the available reports will appear.
- To enable a report, check the Enabled box.

- Open the Site, click on Edit Page and then the Insert tab.
- Click on Web Part in the Ribbon. In the Categories column, locate and click on Nintex Workflow 2010 (2013) and then select the Workflow Report Viewer in the Web Parts column. Once you have added this webpart to the SharePoint site, you can edit the webpart and select the Nintex report you wish to display.
The Workflow Performance Reports you can choose from:
- 12 Month Usage Summary
Shows a graphical representation of the number of workflows started in the past 12 months, by month. - 3 Month Usage Summary
Shows a graphical representation of the number of workflow started in the past 3 months, by month. - 30 Day Usage Summary
Shows a graphical representation of the number of workflows started in the past 30 days, by day. - Approver Performance Statistics
Identifies the users/ approvers involved in workflows, including the number of assigned workflows, completed, completed on time, in progress, overdue and delegated tasks. - Completed Workflows
Identify completed workflows, including the initiator, start time, end time and duration. You can also choose to include an expected duration. You can add an expected duration when building a workflow, this is the time you think the business process should take. This allows you to compare those times with the actual, average time they’re taking to run. Filter by site, or initiator. - Errored Workflows
Provides a list of workflows which have errored. Click on a workflow to drill down into the workflow and view a detailed history of the workflow, including action history, task history, and workflow messages. - Overdue Workflows
This report is useful if you have set an expected duration for workflows. This will list the workflows which have not been completed in the set time. Resources being used, can you keep up with the load, are there bottlenecks, how can be address them? Do we need to reconfigure SharePoint to handle more workflow activity? You can run these reports in one workflow at a time, or run it within one site, or the entire SharePoint farm. - Workflow Actions
Use this report to display all workflow actions within a workflow, the total number of instances and the average duration. - Workflow Performance
Allows us to identify bottlenecks in your business processes and measure the impact of your changes.
For example: If the average time for a business process is taking too long you can drill into it. The top of the report displays important statistics, such as how many times the business process has run, and how long it usually takes. You can also see a high level of detail for every single step in the process, all the way back to when it was first created. Use this report to identify where time can be saved, and if and why the delays are happening. If people are involved in an action, you can see who they are, and what their responses have been.
These reports aren’t only about saving time. They allow you to measure the overall impact when business processes and automation changes. - Workflows by Site
Shows the number of workflows by each team site, including the number of completed, in progress, cancelled and errored workflows. - Workflows in Progress
Provides a list of workflows in progress, including the workflow name, initiator, start time, last action, duration and idle time. Filter by site or initiator.
