Issue

Running the AppDeployment.exe file on the SharePoint WFE server leads to the following error:

Image

"Error occurred during the execution of Setup
Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Error while checking if application is ready to execute."

Symptoms

Assemblies and other dependencies may be missing from the SharePoint WFE server causing the setup manager to fail on launch.

Troubleshooting Steps

To resolve this, please do the following:
  1. Under the Installation directory, you will find K2 for SharePoint Application Deployment.exe:

  2. Copy this executable to the SharePoint WFE server and ensure that it is unblocked before running it.
  3. Running this will extract a folder of the same name: K2 for SharePoint Application Deployment.
  4. Run the AppDeployment.exe from this folder:

Should this also fail, retrieve the Installer trace from the SharePoint server:
C:Users[User who ran AppDeployment.exe]AppDataLocalTempK2 Setup Log.
Kindly log a support ticket with the installer trace attached for further assistance.
