Unable to assign Expert/Owner when creating the process

We have an active user who has created many processes in the past, when they tried to create a new process today and needed to assign an Owner & Expert they searched for their own name and there was no dropdown that had appeared at all. 

As a workaround I was able to create a process and select them as the owner & expert which then allowed them to start working on the process but they still cannot create a process and this isn't a feasible solution in the long run as they will be adding many more processes to the group.

 

Any tips or tricks to try and resolve this issue for our user?

I would report this via a support ticket (ie email direct to Nintex support) as it seems to be a technical issue that shouldn't be happening.
