AS microsoft goes toward their SPFx-based future, new lists in Nintex no longer show the Nintex forms button on the ribbon on a new list.  This list is on a site that already has Nintex Forms for O365 intalled and in use.  I tried the two tircks suggesed earlier to solve this:

  1. I cleared my Browser Cache
  2. I changed the Advanced Setting Offline Client Availability to No

I still cant get the forms button.  Is there any work around to allow me to still make new forms on a list?  I read there was an new SPFx-based Nintex forms app but I cant find that as a stand alone.  We also have Nintex Automation Cloud here and I use it often.  The SharePoint list based forms have a lot of advangages over forms tied to NAC so our prefered solution for the last year or so has been O365 Nintex forms triggering NAC workflows.  Is this still possible?

Fortunately I can still use Nintex forms on older lists.

@WillJordan This issue should be resolved. Have you raised a case with Nintex and Microsoft support? Microsoft was rolling out a fix for missing icons. We will soon begin migrating customers with list forms to SPFx app. However, at this stage, you must continue using the old app and start migrating forms to the New Responsive format in preparation for the move to SPFx.

Yes.  The two steps I took came form my case.  They worked previously on existing lists which is when I agreed that the case should be closed.  Now its new lists where I can not use the old app at all.  If there isnt a new app yet then I will have to communciate that to my citizen develpers and tell them Nintex Forms are unavailable for some period of time on new lists.  Maybe MS will allow this fix to also affect new lists and maybe not.

@WillJordan I would suggest reopening the case with support and also opening one with Microsoft if you haven’t. You should be able to see it on new lists.

Hi @WillJordan has this issue been resolved?

No.  I made a new case as suggested but so far no progress on that case.

This has happened sporadically for us in our organisation. It completely cripples any ability to manage or edit the form templates. But for us, it seems that this problem can come and go. I did find that I could restore the icon if I did the following:

  1. Go to site contents and locate the Nintex Forms for Office 365 app and click the ellipsis dote and choose remove. (This might take you to the Classic view).
  2. When that is done, go to the gear cog and choose Add an App, then on the My Apps page, search for Nintex - or go to the store and search. Look for Nintex Automation Cloud.
  3. When you have located it, add it. You will need tenant level admin to approve it and trust it.
  4. Now re-add the Nintex Forms for Office 365 app. When asked, trust it to look up user profiles.
  5. You should then see
  6. Go back to your site contents and make sure both apps are showing there - it may take a moment for the icons to appear solid.
  7. When you go to your list, with any luck, you should see your Nintex form icons and the list view will revert to the original view without the list icon and tabbed views.

It is worth noting, however, that this functionality is being deprecated by Microsoft. You will see a banner at the top of your My Apps page as shown below:

Starting April 2, 2026, SharePoint add-ins will be retired for SharePoint in Microsoft 365 and users will no longer be able to use SharePoint add-ins. Installing SharePoint add-ins from the SharePoint Store will not be possible as of July 1, 2024. Learn more about the retirement of add-ins

@leighburke What will the new solution be like? Will we still have some sort of icon in the list menu bar, or will there be a different way to access the form editor? Also, when you refer to the migration to SPFx, will that be a Nintex led process, or something we will all have to do ourselves?

Thanks for this response.  I have tried removing and re-adding but I am willing to try it again.  Im pretty desperate.

@SmashedMonkey The process to access the forms designer will be basically the same, except inside in the SPFx app instead. We will provide instruction on how the move to new app will work soon, it is targeted for next quarter. You will need to upgrade your forms to New Responsive for this move, using the upgrade tooling we released.
