If I am interpreting your requirement correctly, selecting the option "First Response" should do the trick. I forgot to add this part on the first screenshot, for the actions event...

First Response actions , but it remains on the desk of the second approver.

Here is what i mean 

There are two who would approve a task and when one actually approves the task, its suppose to leave the workdesk tray and none of them should see the task since it has been approved , rejected etc.

Just to confirm, after changing the Task Result Rule to use the First Response, did you redeploy the workflow and tested with a new instance?
