Create an Item (SharePoint Online) action unable to configure result

I have below simple workflow with Create an Item action I need to configure the Create an Item output so that I could get the ID of the new item created, so I have created an Object variable as below When I configure the variable objNewListItem as below the action shows the error ‘Some fields contain variables that can only be used inside associated Loop for each containers. We recommend removing the variables from this configuration.’ Could someone help me the detail of what’s wrong with my configuration or how to configure the Create an item rightly, so I could get the id of the item created please. How to capture when a sharepoint "create an item" returns an error - duplicate

Hello, I am just creating my first form using the Nintex Workflow Cloud. This is a simple form which creates an item on a Sharepoint list every time it is submitted. I don't want to have duplicates, so one of the columns on my Sharepoint list only accepts a unique value. I need to find a way to know when the "create an item" fails (because it is a duplicate) , so i can send the user to an error page.How can i accomplish that? Thank you.

Lookup Control for Azure AD in NWC form

I'm working on an approval workflow that allows the end user to choose who to send the approval to.  We are using an email control currently and am running into an issue where people are miss-spelling the email address which terminates the workflow.  I do not want to maintain a separate email list in SharePoint as that would be another list to maintain.  Instead I would like to call Azure for emails addresses, however, it limits you to 999 rows to return.  As we have over 1100 employees, how can I ensure I return everyone's email address I need.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kyle Barton

How do I get DateTime for my TimeZone?

I am looking to query a SharePoint List and get all items that were created today. Once it gets into the evening, the UTC for "Current Date and Time" gets into the next day. (i.e. when I run it at 09-09-2020 9:50pm EST, Current Date time returns 2020-09-10T01:50:46Z). I know I can convert that to a string and convert to my timezone, but then how do I convert that back to a DateTime object? The query requires a DateTime since the SP field is a DateTime

How to merge files in NWC workflow from Form attachments?

The users are filling an Input start Form on NWC with attachments.  we want to generate a PDF into document template from the filled form and append the attachments provided on the form to the generated PDF as one document before sending it to the users to approve.  We are able to use docgen to generate the pdf from the form data. But can someone help and explain how can we merge the attachment files? detailed steps will be appreciated..  new to NWC.    Thank you!

Possible mismatch between Get Attachment Names action and Loop For Each action?

There is a SharePoint Online list and some items have one or attachments (actually images that I need to integrate with DocGen later). So, I was jumping up and down with Release 107 with all these great new actions. You can imagine I had a good weekend. But now it's Monday and... something doesn't seem to match.To store the attachments of a SharePoint Online list this is to me the basic component workflow:Basically: I get the array of names. Then loop through them and store the files. All done. But the pain already shows in the picture. The Get Attachment Names action demands an object (I love these objects and how well they are integrated in the UX) as a result. Instant protest from the action: Must be inside the Loop For Each. ??? The help file clearly shows something else:I cannot select a collection for output. It has to be an object. Also, the Loop For Each action demands a Collection but won't accept the collection of names embedded in the object.This is where I get stuck. What d

Email variable fails to store properly when searched by job title

Hey Nintex Community, Just had some complaints about failed instances. When I went to check on them, they all failed at the same point: a "Get user details" action which takes as input the email variable stored earlier in the workflow (using a "Query user" action) and produces as output the associated name (in this case, of our admin assistant). When similar issues have occurred in the past, it was usually due to small changes in employee titles--I have the workflow set up to find email addresses based on job titles, so as to avoid issues with staff turnover. I checked the assistant's title, which had indeed changed by a few characters (a word was no longer abbreviated). I updated the title in the Query Users box.  However, unlike in the past, this didn't fix the problem. I still got a "Bad Request: email is required" error at the point in the workflow when the email variable should have been used to look up the admin assistant's name. I've temporarily fixed it by having the Query User

Error When Updating Salesforce Record: Provided external ID field does not exist or not accessible

Hello, I am receiving this error when trying to update a Salesforce record at the beginning of a component workflow. Full Error Message: {"error":"request id: 5f3d74f1e4b09209fe15ff17 response code: 404, message: Provided external ID field does not exist or is not accessible: [], provider message: "}Here is the initial actions of the workflow:The "update a record" and "retrieve opportunity field" actions both reference the same Salesforce ID. The update action will throw the mention error when running the workflow. If I disable that action, the all other uses of the ID work fine, including another update action later in the workflow.  I tried to do some googling on this issue with no luck. I'm not exactly sure if this is a Nintex issue or something to do with Salesforce and how it handles these integrations, but was wondering if this was anything other people might know a workaround for.  The main point of confusion for me is why the update seems to not work when it is used at the begi

How do you handle Dev/Test Workflows (Pre-Production)?

Hi, we want to align our workflows similar to our code building with a Dev, UAT and Prod environment style. With that said, making multiple copies of a workflow and keeping it all straight in the same NWC location is messy and not ideal. I thought I read somewhere about getting a separate site for this but can't recall where or how. How do you handle this AND if it is a separate site how do I get this started?

Secret/Confidential Information

We're using Okta for some connections which contain some sensitive/secret information (passwords). We do not want this information visible to others, beyond admin type controls making these viewable what other ways can I store secret information like this?

Error 500 in Document Creation Step when Lookup results from SP list in PDF file name

Hi all,  I have a Lookup to a sharepoint list of names. I can pass the selected name to the document tagger and to an email just fine.  If I include it in the file name of a document generation the flow fails on error 500. 500 - {"requestId":"5f45b705e4b097cd39316557","message":"Internal failure while handling request"}Instance ID: de5d3181-adaa-405c-b769-f51c92088310_1_1 Checking the instance details I see a " " after the selected name. This is not coming through in the email or tagged document. But I'm wondering if maybe this element is somehow getting into the 'create pdf' step. PDF's can't have a """ in the name so that could be causing the error if that's what's happening.  My list doesn't have after the names so I'm guessing this is some normal aspect of a lookup. Wondering why I can't find anyone else with the issue though.

2 Decimal Places for NWC Workflow Variable?

In NWC, if I have a decimal variable that I want to display two decimal places, I cannot. Am I missing something?  Ex: if the value is 1.00 and I output that value, it comes out as 1.0  Setting the "Default Value" setting to 0.00 reverts to 0.0 on save and there is no Currency type.

Date value changes from Workflow into Task Form?

Hello,  I have a component workflow that takes a date/datetime value from Salesforce and enters the date into a task form. The date in the form is different than the date in the workflow, and I am wondering how I can fix that. Example: In the workflow, if I use log to instance details, I can see that the date value is for example "2020-05-05." (May 5th, 2020). However, in the task form, this date will appear on a date form field as May 4th, 2020. And if I show the time on the form control, it will be May 4th, 2020 6:00pm. 2 screenshots:

Remove page numbers on forms?

Hello.  Is there any way we can remove the page number on the top left corner of the "forms"?  Also, is there a way to format the choice multiple and single?  I'd like to make the questions in bold letters if possible.

Workflow in an iframe with URL parameter

Hi, We are using Nintex Workflow embedded in our website using the iframe code it gives when we publish the workflow. It works well. However, we would like to pass a URL parameter to it from the parent window (the website page).How can we do this as when I tried to pass the URL parameter using simple javascript like the below doesn't work.It doesn't even seem to call the onload function. Nintex xtension using api v3

In NWC I need to create an xtension using api v3.all the posts I’m seeing suggests that NWC can’t utilise v3 at the moment.is this the case or am I just configuring the xtension wrong?. I keep getting an error saying the specification is incorrect. cheers marc

NWC default storage Tab missing

This maybe too stupid a question to ask - I have just logged into a new customer Tenant but i do not seem to have the ability to create a 'Default Storage Location'. The option is missing from the Dashboard.I've confirmed it's there in my dev environment, it's been a while since starting from scratch and i guess i'm missing something very obvious.Has anyone come across this before?. Thanks Marc

Do Private Connectors (xtensions) require a response in a particular format?

I have created a very simple node.js application which starts a server listening on port 3000.  It has one GET method with no authentication and no parameters required.  When i run this and call it through the browser i get the expect response.    I have created a swagger file for my application.    When i call it through Postman i get the expected response and statuscode 200. All good. I have then imported the swagger file into Nintex to create a private connector.  It imports without issue.  When i run this connector as a step in a workflow I get Internal Server Error { "statusCode": 500, "message": "Internal server error", "activityId": "94f886a4-54dc-4a9c-a145-628c8fdd125d" }. Do i have to format the response from my node.js application in a certain way for it to work properly in a workflow?

NWC - Cannot Respond to All Tasks

The NWC help page on tasks (https://help.nintex.com/en-us/nwc/Content/Dashboard/Tasks.htm) specifically states that NWC administrators can respond to other assignees' tasks (see "Respond to Tasks", section 1b). The exact wording of the section is "if you want to view and respond to any active tasks, click All active tasks" However, there is no response / completion option on my Tasks dashboard (other than the "My Tasks" tab). Does anyone know what is wrong? I would be most grateful if someone can shine some light on the problem.

Looking for the correct syntax for the Path Expression in the Query JSON action

I cannot figure out what the correct syntax should be for the path expression in the Query JSON action.This is my sample data: When I parse the userCreated it returns nicely John into my variable: But this is the one I actually need: The id of the first element of mediaItems. So I use mediaItems/(0)/id: But this returns an error: Questions:What is the right syntax? Where is this explained/described?

File Management System

Box - Getting File ID of Generated Document from Form after uploaded to Box

I am trying to create a simple workflow kicked off by a Form event in NWC. The form captures a few values like name/email/date which are set to variables, and then are used to generate a document which is then uploaded to a Box Folder. This part is working.... For the next step, I want to reference that file that was just generated and uploaded to Box and then set metadata on it. Where I'm stuck is that to take an action on a file in Box, I need to fetch the file ID, however the previous Generate Document step does not appear to save the newly created Doc's ID as a variable.  How do I reference the created file that was just uploaded to Box so I can perform a Box API action like updating it's metadata?
