as it says in the title, my description fields allow more than 255 characters in the workflow configuration
however, after deployment to the server, the form field gets trimmed and doesn't show all the content
images attached for better view

If you are using SQL as a backend for your smartobjects change the Description column type from varchar to nvarchar(max). If you are not using a SQL Database backend but using SharePoint then make sure the column in the list is a rich text column. Either one of these should solve this issue if I understand it correctly.
