Multiple SmartObjects in a workflow

I am creating a Report connected to a smartobject and I want to have a tab that is connected to a User(smartobject). I am looking to find out how I would connect both of these for a managers approval in a workflow. I tried looking at a composite smartobject but I am very new to K2. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.
