Symptoms

The client saw the following error when trying to connect to a SharePoint 2013 list: "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found."
 

Diagnoses

We confirmed that the user was trying to connect to a full-fledged SharePoint 2013 site using the SharePoint 2010 wizards.
 

Resolution

Because of the radically different ways SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013 works, this will not be possible. You will have to install the K2 for SharePoint 2013 component to interact with SharePoint 2013 sites.
