Specifying Custom 'From' Address Causes Send Mail Action to Fail

I'm trying to specify a custom email address in the 'From' field of a 'Send Email' action in K2 for SharePoint on 4.6.10. If I change it to anything other than the default (i.e. the Environment Field > Mail Server > From Address - which is currently set to the K2 Service account for this environment), then the 'Send Mail' action fails.

I've tried several addresses that I know to be valid, including my own.

Can anyone advise what might be going wrong?

Thanks,

Steve

Change the From Address in the K2Hostserver.exe.config file (this is located in [INSTALLDIR]K2 blackpearlHost serverin, in the Sendmailfrom node). After making the change, you will need to restart the K2 service.

IMPORTANT: take backup first then change in the file.

I've now identified the problem. The K2 Service Account in that environment did not have the rights to 'Send of behalf of' the account  I was specifying in the 'From:' field in the 'Send Email' action. I asked our Exchange team to update the account and it all now works as expected.
