Hi Shubash,

You can use the Query User Profile action or you could use the Query LDAP action.

Either of those would be able to get you the data you need.

cheers,

Vadim

Adding some more info:

The Query User Profile action's first field is the User.  In there, you insert the user that you have.  There is a Properties to retrieve drop down.  Select Manager and click Add, then store the result in a Text variable.

This of course assumes that your companies stores the managers in the User Profile.

Hi Vadim,

I would like to use the Query User Profile for essentially the same concept.  I need  to send an email to an employees manager when they fail to complete an assigned task.  Here is what I set up:

I created the variable Manager in the the "Store Property in".  Any suggestions why it is not working?   I am getting  an error:

Some parameters failed the validation check.

- [InputUsers] : Email address is invalid.

Hi Amanda,

does it work if you type in the employee email address instead of using the variable or item property?

I want to see if the issue is that there is something wrong with the data going to the action from that variable/property.

Have you also confirmed that user has a manager field that is filled in?

cheers,

Vadim

Hi Vadim,

Yes, it is my profile that I did the test on and I do have the manager field filled in.  I retried the workflow with my direct email address (instead of a variable) and it worked so it must be the "assigned to" variable is not coming across.

Getting closer.  Awesome.

Use a Log in the History List action and log that field.  Compare it to what you typed in and see what the difference is.

Thanks Vadmin,

In the log it has i:0#.f|membership|test.user@yahoo.com.  How do I remove the "i:0#.f|membership|" from this field?
