mmc snap-in failed to initialize

opening k2.net 2003 server manager prompt:

'mmc snap-in failed to initialize'

workaround:

1. register k2mmc.dll (using regasm.exe)
- an error message will appear:
'access to the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTComponent Categories...... is denied

2. run regedt32.exe
3. find the registry HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTComponent Categories... as specified in the error message
4. click permission > security
5. click advance
6. check inherit permission from parent object
7. click apply
8. reboot
