InfoPath Integrated Processes: New changes handling?

How do one control or go about handling new versions of a process, where InfoPath integration is concerned for client events?


 


Let's say fields 1, 2, 3 were added initially to a form, intgerated with a process and deployed. The process is currently being used and everything runs smoothly. Some instances have been completed, but not all.


 


Some new changes are now requested which will require changes to the form, for example new fields, etc. If these changes are made and re-deployed, how will this affect current running process instances still using the initial infopath form? What needs to be considered? Is versioning on the form required within SharePoint, etc? Will K2 know to use the initial version of the form for current running instances and use the newly deployed one for new instances?
