Symptoms

When a Appit application is created when you specify a form to start a workflow, a Smartform is used to add new items to a list. In SharePoint, when you click 'Add item' the Smartform is not embedded in SharePoint. Instead, it takes you through to the actual form not the SharePoint form.

Diagnoses

This behaviour is currently by design and is to be expected the reason as to why a Smartform is being used instead of a SharePoint form is that in the "application" for the list it has not been set to use a SharePoint form

Resolution

To resolve this problem, click on the K2 application for the list and select the form or view you want to show. Then once that form/view is selected, select Form settings. Here you will be able to specify to use the K2 Smartform or the SharePoint form.
