Update Document from SharePoint Document Library

I cannot get a document to update from another document. 



  2. I have a template built with Content Controls.
  3. I create a document with the Word Document Event
  4. I try to update the new document from another document from a SharePoint library
  5. I have the Title and Tag set in the Content Control in the new document

It works if I update from text, but I cannot get it to update from another document.  I think I have the Source set properly.


Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I haven't done it this way before, but as an interim test to make sure that the values are pulled correctly from the source document, split the update in 2 parts (events). First, pull the data from the source doc and save it to activity variables. In the second part, use those to update.


As you mentioned, when the values are updated using text, it works OK, so this will give you a definite answer whether the values from the source document is pulled correctly as you can view the datafield values from the reports.
