Add user to AD Group Action with multiple domains

Hello,

We have an issue with Add user to AD group Action that we would like to know if anyone has seen before. In our AD we have 7 domains and the domain that contains the groups we would like to add someone to is in domain X. If the user is also in domain X it works great. If the user is not in domain X the action does not work, as the action is only looking into the 1 path.

“Add user to AD Group”

Has three main fields (ignoring credentials) to cause an add or remove (“Remove user from AD Group”) to happen.

  • LDAP path
  • User (SamAccountName)
  • Group

  1. If we set the LDAP path to the domain where the Group is located (in x.ca) and the user is a user located in x.ca the add or remove works fine.  If the user is not in x.ca then the action will error out with “user not found” type error.
  2. If we set the LDAP path to match the domain of the user and the user is not in x.ca the action will error our because it cannot find the group (as it is located in x.ca).

We need a fix for this before we can move ahead.

A suggestion would be to query against the global catalog to find the objects (x.ca:3268).  However, the LDAP path will not accept a port number.

Any Help?

Re: Add user to AD Group Action with multiple domains

Hello,

That suggestion is from 2014... so Im not going to hold my breath for it. Is there any work around that nintex has documented?
