We have a pretty cool solution we have built using K2 to dynamically provision sites both on-prem and in the cloud using K2 for SharePoint technologies. We are currently faced to create sites instead of site collections because of the "Microsoft Consent Framework" that is not yet available (or soon).
We are able to create the subsite, create groups at the site collection level using the smart objects under the Management category. However, I can not figure out a way to assign those groups right to the site (inheritance is broken). I can assign rights at the site collection level, but not at the sub site level.
Any ideas on how to get around this?
