Send notification to AD group. Recipient name not understandable

Hello,in Nintex Workflow, when I send an email to an AD group, all members of AD group receive the notification. The problem is that in the email the recipient name does not have the good format. Instead of getting a readable group name, there is something like that : c:0+.w|s-1-5-21-2108762092-1276444594-4162494950-47659 which corresponds to group name in claims format.

Can anyone help me to get a readable group name?

thx

Re: Send notification to AD group. Recipient name not understandable

One way that works is:

  1. Grab a Regular Expression action to chop off the "c:0+.w|"
    1. Select the Replace text operation
    2. Replace the claims token and pipe delimiter with an empty string
    3. Save the result into a workflow variable called YourGroupSIDVariable
  2. Grab a Query LDAP action
    1. Drop in the LDAP query below
    2. Add sAMAccountName to the list of properties to retrieve from Active Directory
    3. Save the sAMAccountName to a workflow variable. This should give you the friendly name of the group.

The LDAP query to use in the Query LDAP action is:

(&(ObjectClass=Group)(ObjectSID={WorkflowVariable:YourGroupSIDVariable}))

Re: Send notification to AD group. Recipient name not understandable

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I tried, but I still had the same problem!

After new search on the web, on found that standard Sharepoint Workflows had the same problem. Finally, I found the solution: my AD groups did not get right parameters for exchange. The exchange administrator made the changes and voila!
