What are some of the nintex capabilties using Content Controls in Word documents

Hi,

Can I accomplish following scenarios using Nintex?

  • Copy content control content embedded in a word document into SharePoint library column or create a wiki page in another library by copying the content?
  • Create a new word document in a different library with content from content controls from the document being uploaded in another library?

Hi

You can pull information from a word document inside a content control using the "read document" action in nintex workflow.  When you read the data you will need to place it into a variable, from there you can update the column in the document library with that information no problems at all.

for the second question, do you want to take content out of a document in document library A and put it into a document in document library B?  The "update document" action will insert into word document content controls in workflow.

Hi Chaithanya,

there is a "Read document" action, where you need to provide the url to the document and the name of the control control you want to read the content from. You can save this content in to a variable and write it in another column. For the second point you can create a new element in a library where you manipulated the default word template and inserted some content controls. Afterwards you can use the "Update document" action to update the content controls in the new doc with the contents from the uploaded doc.
