Unable to open the K2.net Worklist Item when submitting

In a running process the following error message is displayed when hitting submit in the Infopath taskpane:

An exception has occurred. Unable to open the K2.net Worklist Item.
DOMAINusername is not allowed to open the worklist item

The user is part of the destination queue for this activity. The user has start and view participate rights on the process.

When I attempt to complete the step with another user in the destination queue that has identical rights on the process it goes through. The problem should not be related to I/O rights on the process instance XML as it is stored in a virtual directory with read/write rights for all domain users.


Any suggestions to what might cause this problem?
