Thanks for pointing this out. This has been recognized among the dev team. Currently, the Adopt Rows functionality is really only designed to handle moving existing data from one model to the other. There are definitely some interesting use cases for moving changes between models, though. I think the best workaround right now is to create a new row in the target model and prepopulate field values.
