Greetings!

Unfortunately the company has decided to stop using Nintex, we are moving to Power Automate.

We are cleaning up as much as we can and I am wondering if there is some way to remove all Nintex apps on all Site Collections, sites and subsites on our tenant with an automated approach/script.

I did some research but so far I have not been able to find a "Nintex cleanup script” or something similar.

Does anybody here have a solution for this by any chance?
Thanks a lot in advance!

I wish you all a great day, regards,

William

Hi,
If it’s about Nintex SharePoint on-prem 2016 or 2019 then you need to follow a procedure to uninstall Nintex Products. You need to uninstall Nintex Workflow and Nintex forms involves removing Nintex solutions, databases, web.config entries, and external platform components, as well as SharePoint libraries and lists used to interact with Nintex products.
There is no direct script to remove all of the workflows or forms.

Thank you for your reply.

It is regarding SharePoint Online, I would be extremely surprised (or better: disappointed) if there was no script available for complete removal.

Hi @WP-CRD,

There is no script to remove Nintex for O365 from a SharePoint tenant.
This is because it is an app just like on your phone.
When you remove apps from your phone, there is no script to ensure the app is removed.
Yes, when you remove the app, pieces will remain. This is the same as removing Microsoft Word from your phone; you would still have Word documents left behind. With Nintex, you will still have workflows and possibly forms left behind. They may even work, but you cannot edit them.
In other words, the app is removed, but the assets you created using the tool will remain.
I hope this makes sense.

As mentioned before, we no longer use Nintex and we are looking for a way to clean up our tenant.

It makes no sense leaving the apps registered in all SharePoint sites and if cleaning things up means loosing existing forms that is no problem because we have instructed our users to no longer use Nintex for any form or workflow.

Just like I am able to uninstall Word and del *.docx for to follow your example.

Hi @WP-CRD

Yes you can delete all *docx files but how do you know if they were created with Word or OpenOffice?

This is the same as Workflows. Workflows can be created in many ways and Nintex is just one. They are the same as SharePoint design or workflows created with Visual Studio. If you want to remove all workflows from SharePoint online it might be possible that Microsoft has a script.

Hello Simon,

Forget about the workflows or forms.

We don't want to see the Nintex apps on our sites, how can we clean this?

Hi @WP-CRD

Removing the Nintex apps from the tenant will remove the icons from the ribbon.

Hello Simon, can provide instructions that result in that because we still see the apps in numerous site's contents. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi @WP-CRD,

In general, uninstalling the apps at the site collection level removes the apps from the tenant.
If the apps remain on some sites as you have pictured, click the ellipsis next to the app and select remove.

Hello Simon,

The problem is we are not talking about “some” sites but “a lot” of sites.

That is the reason for my question: can Nintex provide a s script for us to clean up all the apps on all sites and subsites?

Several software developers provide cleanup tools for (ex-) customers to give them a chance to clean up their systems, it seems quite logical Nintex has this too, with in mind remaining customers will have to upgrade to the new platform sooner or later.

Thanks a lot in advance,

William

Hi @WP-CRD,

As previously mentioned, Nintex does not have a clean-up tool to remove the apps from a tenant.

Well, that is extremely disappointing but thanks for confirming this.

We will clean up the mess ourselves then, thanks.
