Default value of control field is unchangeable

After changing the default  value a list item, the connected control field is not displaying the new default value.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

    After you updating the field in the list, did you open the form in Nintex form designer and republish the form? The change will not appear in the form until you republish it.
