Retention of attachments in workflow tasks

When a user is assigned a task they need to attach documents to the task.

If the attachment is stored in the workflow task list, does this get deleted when SharePoint does the 'Wokflow Auto Cleanup'.

I need this file to be viewable for a long period of time for audit purposes.

Hi,

The answer is yes, the attachment will be deleted if the cleanUp job delete the task.
However, there is several options :

Copy the task attachment by using some actions in you workflow (this can be done with the sharepoint REST API). You can find an discussion here : https://community.nintex.com/t5/Nintex-for-Office-365/Copy-task-attachments-to-Master-Item-on-O365/m-p/88410

You can use an component workflow (with same previus logic ), and call this component after the task completion
You can use Custom Javascript on your task form who upload the file not on the task but on your item (who generate the task). In this case you must not use the control "Attachments" on your task forms. you can use copy document action. This needs to execute on the task item.
