Is there a simple way now to embed the initial form into the different Flexi Task forms?

What I've done in the past is (SharePoint on Prem 2013) just use the ContextItemURL and make it pop up in a new window.  Is there not a better way to do this now?  We don't save every item on the form to a list item just the the "Grand Total" and items that need to be saved.  I thought for sure there would be a better way to do this.
