Is there any way to create an appointment or calendar event (Exchange Online or on-prem) with recurrence without a custom service broker?

Events on a SharePoint calendar, through a workflow, would be copied to some user’s personal calendars, yet some of these events might have recurrence configured.

I see K2 exposes the CAML (XML) of the event and have a helper method to get the properties, yet I am still missing how use them with the Exchange smartobjects.

Any idea would be helpful. Thanks!
