Hello Community!

As part of our governance, my organization is looking for a way to restrict Citizen Developers from creating Smart Objects, but still allowing them to create views, forms, and workflows.  Has anyone else ever done this?  If so then please provide guidance and examples.  Alternate suggestions about a governance approach are also welcome.

Thanks!

Tom

Tom,

You can set this permission in the management site under Integration | SmartObject security.  You can control who is allowed to create/publish and delete SmartObjects.  You might want to add your developer group to this section and give them permission.  People who are not members of that group won't be able to publish SmartObjects. Keep in mind if your citizen developers are building SharePoint apps this would prevent them from creating SharePoint SmartObjects.
