In addition to what sello said:-
You cannot upgrade directly from K2 4.7 to K2 5.2 if you have 4.7 installed on-premises with the K2 database in Azure SQL. In this case, you must first upgrade your K2 4.7 installation to K2 Five (5.0), then upgrade to K2 Five (5.1) and then to K2 Five (5.2).
It's always advisable to upgrade from 4.7-5.2 in chronological order, issues similar to this one are mostly caused by feature compatibilties and support matrix kindly follow up with the link navigate to "what you need to know before upgrading to k2 five" (https://help.k2.com/kb002606)

It would be really good to see installer trace in full or its extract to understand at which stage/step error happened. Frequently GUI surface final error but another one/real root cause occurred a bit earlier and can be found in installer trace.
Another generic tips for upgrade/install are:
- Ensure that Configuration Analysis for installed K2 version do not have any warnnigs before you start upgrade
- Be sure that machine has been restarted/has no pending reboot to apply updates or any other pending changes requiring reboot before you start upgrade
- Make sure that account which you use to install/upgrade has all the rights specified in product documentation (ICG)
