Ok, depending on who you talk to, you get a different answer.

My question is, we are on K2 v4.7 and are aiming to do an in-place upgrade from v4.7 to v5.3

Can we download the K2 v5.3 installer and use that for the upgrade, or do we have to upgrade to v5.1 first, then upgrade to v5.3

The v5.3 installer on the Downloads page says this: Installer can be used to install a new environment, upgrade to k2 Five (5.0, 5.1, or 5.2) or upgrade an existing K2 blackpearl 4.7 environment.

K2 Support tell me that i need to go to v5.1 first, then to v5.3, but the Installer for v5.3 say it can be used to upgrade an k4.7 environment.

So what is it, what is the offical answer here?

Thanks

Hi Sharpharp,

The official answer is YES!

Refer to the release notes whenever you want to upgrade as this gives you clear answer in regards to the upgrade path

What you need to know when upgrading

  • You can upgrade to K2 Five (5.3) from K2 4.7 or K2 Five (5.0, 5.1 or 5.2).

  • You cannot upgrade directly from K2 4.7 to K2 5.3 if you have 4.7 installed on-premises with the K2 database in Azure SQL. In this case, you must first upgrade your K2 4.7 installation to K2 Five (5.0), then upgrade to K2 Five (5.1), and then to K2 Five (5.3).
